13 arrested for indecency at Irish themed pub’s relaunch after Gaelic loo sign mix-up

The relaunch of a much loved Irish-themed pub in Liverpool this week turned into chaos after several reported incidents of men exposing themselves in the toilets. Police were called to investigate at the Pogue Mahone pub on Seel Street numerous times after reports of men exposing their genitals inside the women’s toilets.

In all, 13 arrests were made over the course of the evening. Pádraic O’Brien, 34, said to Mersey Gazette, “Honest to God, I felt sorry for that poor fella I saw get dragged out. He didn’t know what was going on, he still had his flute in his hand, bless him”.

The new owners seemed to take it in their stride but were shocked to discover that the pub’s name was an anglicisation of the Gaelic phrase “póg mo thóin”, which roughly translates as “kiss my ar*e”.
